About Laura Finger
Laura Finger writes multicultural Texas women's fiction — stories about real communities, complicated histories, and the bureaucratic chaos of small-town life done right. Her Restoring Madison, TX series follows Mexican-American, Korean-American, and African-American women navigating love, legacy, and an awful lot of government red tape in fictional Verde County, Texas.
Before she started making up stories about Texas records law, Laura lived it. She worked as an archivist at the Houston Public Library and the Rosenberg Library in Galveston before becoming a Records Manager for the State of Texas. She holds a master's degree in history, which comes in handy approximately every single day.
An unapologetic Houston girl, Laura writes Texas with all its warts, humidity, and stubborn charm. When she's not writing, she's training for marathons with the modest goal of finishing before the cutoff time. She is the exasperated human caretaker of Gretchen, a Siberian Forest Cat who remains unimpressed.
